Ride the Train to Christmas Town!

This holiday season, you and your family can join Janice, Bumblebee, and my other friends on the actual Train to Christmas Town. Tickets are already on sale in two locations (with more coming soon!) for this annual family train experience.

If you live in New England, here’s a link to the Cape Cod Central Railroad trip, in Buzzard’s Bay, Massachusetts:

Train to Christmas Town will be running in six locations this year. They are all in beautiful locations – Colorado, Oregon, Massachusetts, Mississippi, and two locations in England – County Durham and County Devon. I can’t wait to ride them all!

Knit your own Bumblebee scarf!

Knitting and trains just naturally go together, don’t they? If you ever bump into me riding the train, you can be pretty sure you’ll also see me knitting something. When I wrote Train to Christmas Town, I knew that Janice’s grandmother was a knitter. And of course a bear named Bumblebee would be wearing a scarf with bold bumblebee stripes. But when I decided to design some knitting patterns based on the book, I was surprised at how many sweaters, mittens, and scarves Jeff added in his illustrations. It may be awhile before they all come to life!

Bumblebee’s scarf is a great project for beginning knitters, but I think it would also make a nice gift for someone celebrating the holidays with a ride on the Train to Christmas Town. Feel free to print this pattern for your own use or for gifts. If you need basic knitting instructions, there are lots of good books and and internet tutorials out there.

I would love to see pictures of your scarves. Maybe I’ll show up at one of the train rides wearing mine! I wonder if Bumblebee would like that.
